Extension Troubleshooting

Running into trouble with the Dwight extension? Work through the common issues below to get back on track quickly.

Quick fixes to try first

  • Refresh the page you are on — the extension needs to inject into the page on load.
  • Make sure you are signed in to Dwight. Click the extension icon and check your account status.
  • Check that the extension is enabled in Chrome by visiting chrome://extensions and toggling Dwight on.
  • Try a hard reload (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows) to bypass cached resources.
  • Disable other extensions temporarily to rule out conflicts with third-party tools.
  • Restart Chrome entirely — sometimes a full browser restart clears transient errors.

Common issues

Extension not showing up

You installed Dwight but cannot see the icon in your browser toolbar, or the extension seems to have disappeared.

How to fix it

  1. 1Go to chrome://extensions and confirm Dwight is listed and toggled on. If it is missing, reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. 2Click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's top-right toolbar to see all installed extensions, then click the pin icon next to Dwight to keep it visible.
  3. 3Refresh the current page after pinning. The Dwight icon should now appear in the toolbar.
  4. 4If the icon still does not appear, restart Chrome and check again.

Extension icon is greyed out

The Dwight icon appears in the toolbar but is faded or greyed out, and clicking it does nothing.

How to fix it

  1. 1A greyed-out icon usually means Dwight is not supported on the current page or URL. Navigate to a supported AI platform such as chatgpt.com, claude.ai, or gemini.google.com.
  2. 2Make sure you are not on a browser internal page (like chrome://extensions or a PDF viewer) — extensions cannot run on these pages.
  3. 3If the icon is grey on a supported AI site, sign out and back in to refresh your session token.
  4. 4Still grey? Reinstall the extension and sign in again.

Saved prompts or personas not loading

The Dwight popup opens but your saved prompts or personas show a loading spinner indefinitely, appear blank, or display an error message.

How to fix it

  1. 1Check your internet connection. Your saved prompts and personas are fetched from Dwight's servers and require an active connection.
  2. 2Sign out of Dwight from the extension popup, then sign back in. This refreshes your authentication and reloads your data.
  3. 3Clear your browser cache: go to Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data, then reload the page.
  4. 4If your data still does not appear, uninstall the extension, reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store, and sign in again.
  5. 5Contact support if the issue persists — there may be a temporary service disruption.

Extension not working after Chrome update

Dwight stopped working or behaves unexpectedly shortly after Chrome auto-updated to a new version.

How to fix it

  1. 1Go to chrome://extensions, toggle Dwight off, wait a few seconds, then toggle it back on.
  2. 2Check if a Dwight update is available. On the chrome://extensions page, enable "Developer mode" in the top right, then click "Update" to force a refresh of all extensions.
  3. 3Clear Chrome's cache and cookies for the AI sites you use: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data → select "Cached images and files".
  4. 4If problems continue, uninstall Dwight, restart Chrome, then reinstall from the Chrome Web Store.

Can't log in to extension

You see a login screen in the Dwight panel but entering your credentials fails, shows an error, or loops back to the login screen.

How to fix it

  1. 1Clear cookies and site data for dwightprompt.com: Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data → search for "dwight" → delete.
  2. 2Try signing in through an Incognito window (Cmd+Shift+N / Ctrl+Shift+N) to rule out a cookie or extension conflict.
  3. 3If you have forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the Dwight login page to request a reset email.
  4. 4Make sure you are using the same sign-in method you registered with (e.g., Google vs. email/password).
  5. 5If none of the above works, email support@dwightprompt.com with your account email address and a description of the error you see.
